Welcome Message

The Citrin Foundation Global Symposium 2023 is the second in-person symposium organized by the Citrin Foundation. It aims to bring together the world’s leading scientists, clinicians and researchers with multidisciplinary backgrounds who are interested in citrin deficiency (CD).

Citrin Foundation has adopted a new, global and holistic approach to tackle citrin deficiency by funding research, supporting patients and acting as a nexus to bring the different pieces (scientists, clinicians, biotechs, patients) together to ultimately find a cure for this condition. This symposium will showcase our progress to date and provide a collaborative environment for the participants to engage in thought-provoking discussions on how to leverage the latest advances in science and medicine to further our goals.

The Symposium will begin with a comprehensive two-day scientific program in which participants will present the latest research findings and clinical developments on important topics such as basic science, pre-clinical model developments, future diagnostic tools, emerging clinical evidence, patient cohort characterization, center initiatives and novel therapies. It will then be followed by a half-day hybrid patient-focused session where patients from around the world will share their unique stories, their hopes and aspirations. Current CD management and diagnostic guidelines will also be discussed for the benefit of all the participants.

We warmly welcome you to Magdalene College, Cambridge University, nestled in the idyllic city of Cambridge. We have planned a number of social and networking activities including private tours of colleges, punting on the beautiful River Cam and a gala dinner in the magnificent Magdalene dining hall. We hope that this Symposium will offer you a great opportunity to brainstorm new ideas and foster further collaborations, bringing us a step closer to our ultimate goal.
